Canadian Deaf Ministries Related Camps for the Deaf:

CANADA:

We work with the B. C. Conference of SDA in conducting a yearly Mini-Camp Meeting for the Deaf. This is held at the beginning of the yearly regular summer convention at "Camp Hope", Hope, B. C. The location is 7 Kilometers West of Hope on Highway # 7. The meetings are held in the Camp Hope Lodge. They are usually held the last weekend of July. There are plenty of on-side camping spots available at under $10. a night [Can.] There is also a food store, and a cafeteria available.

Deaf Camp Hope Trip to Manning Park Alpine Meadow

SPECIAL SPEAKERS AT THE CAMPS:

Special speakers come from around North America. They are either deaf themselves, or have years of experience in working with the Deaf. Speakers have included:

* Ralph Blank III: Lay Pastor and Professional Interpreter, San Bernardino, CA

* Pastor Jeff Jordan (deaf): Pastor and church-planting in Atlanta, GA

* David Trexler (deaf): A Director of Deaf Ministry in and near Washington, D. C.

* Pastor George Belser, Pastor of the Deaf, Vancouver, WA

* Pastor Alfred Griffith, Pastor of the Deaf, Manteca, CA

* Pastor Paul Kelly (deaf): Part Time Pastor & a teacher, Rochester, NY

* Pastor Allen Meis: Pastor in Michigan, USA

UNITED STATES:

WESTERN USA CAMP MEETING FOR THE DEAF:  At Milo Academy, July 9-16, 2006

Most of the recent Conventions in the last 20 years were held at Milo Academy, about 50 miles SE of Roseberg, OR, at Milo, OR.  However, the Camp for 2005 was in Northern California.  For 2006, it is again back in Oregon.

The main speakers will be selected from the list above. There are meals and dorm rooms available at very reasonable prices.

The Milo Oregon Camp was not all meetings -- Rogue River Rafting was really fun!

 

MID-WEST CAMP MEETING FOR THE DEAF:

This is held some summers at a location in the Arkansas or Oklahoma area.  The last one was held in Arkansas in 2003, and another will be held in 2006.  For more details email Esther Doss at-  esther@edgemontvideo.com

 

DEAF CAMP MEETING IN MEXICO:

There have been several deaf camps in Mexico.   We don't have details of one for 2006, but you may write Pastor David Trexler to ask for developing details:  Pastor David Trexler-   dmtrexler@earthlink.net

1. Devotionals

2. Serious Bible Study

3. Children's Program (at some camps)

4. Health & Family Life Presentations

5. Recreation May Include: River Rafting (OR), Hiking in the Alpine Meadows (B.C.), Swimming or tubing in the river (OR), Expeditions to Hell's Gate, the Train Tunnels, Harrison Hot Springs (B.C.), etc.
